ENGINEERING EVALUATION OF THE DECORATIVE ROCKS IN SELECTED SITES IN KILO-160-RUTBA ZONE .

Abstract

Many laboratory tests and field reeonna sance been done to evatuate the limestone dolomitic and calcareous sandstone in selected sites in western Desert to determine its physical and engineering charcteristies and their ability for using thier as decorative rocks in the external and internal coating (covering ) of the walls and floors covering This research depended on the laboratory tests and the depended on the laboratory tests and the depended on the laboratory tests and the depended specifications in evaluation of the rock kinds and also depended on signs of values guide to resistance for weathering conditions . AII the results have shown that the rocks from Wadi Amij Mawded site an AL –Hussiniat Quarry (upper part ) are good as decorative rocks for internal coating of walls only . Whereas The rocks of AL-Hussiniat Quarry (lower part )are suitable as decorative rocks for external and internal rock as well as for floor coating and mosaic rocks in the industry of floor covering .
