ENGINEERING EVALUA. OF THE DECORATIVE ROCKS IN SELEC.SITES WADI AL UBAIDH,BAHAR AL-NAJAF AL-SALMAN .

Abstract

Many laboratory tests have been done to evaluate the limestone in selected sites in Wadi Al-Ubaidh-Bahar Al-Najaf – Al- Salman / one in the Southern Desert to delermine its physical and engineering characteristics and the ability for using it as decorative rocks in the external coating ( covering ) of the walls and floors . This research depended on the laboratory tests and the depended specifications in evaluation of the rock kinds and also depended on the signs of values guide to resistance for weather condition . All results have shown that the rocks from Wadi Mzia al quarry is good as decorative rocks for external coating of walls and internal coating of walls and floors in additition to mosaic rocks in the industry of floor covering. Whereas the rocks of Al-Salman site is good as decorative rocks for internal coating of walls. Floors and mosaic rocks. The rocks of Al-Salman site is unsuitable for external covering due to presence of un-penetrative holes in it The research recommended in using the blasting as a method for querying in all the above mentioned sites.
