The report discuses the hydrogeological and hydrochemical evaluation of the aquifer in AnSab Quadrangle sheet (NH-38- 10) Scale 1:250 000.
This work is a compilation of what has been written on the aquifer encountered during drilling taking into consideration the previous hydrogeological field works performed on the area under study. Test results as well as chemical analysis were re – evaluated and doubtful result were discarded.
Hydrologeological investigation have revealed the existence of three important aquifers in the area , Viz in Dammam , Um – Radhuma and Tayarat formations which form a complex hydrogeological unit , hydraulically connected region wise .Locally , however, the aqifers may behave as confined .
The water in the aquifers is almost confined to fractures, joints and vugs that characterized the carbonate deposits of these formations. Ground water is characterized by the existence of a water divide diverting the waters into two main directions the groundwater in the northern part of the sheet is directed mainly towards the north east , whereas that in the Southern part moves mainly towards the South east .
30% of the ground water may be regarded suitable for human and agricultural uses. In extreme case all of the ground water may be used for agricultural uses.
