الملخصDuring the period 1/1/2001 to 1/5/2001, resistivity and gravity geophysical surveys were conducted over area of (50 km.2) located to the west of Gaara depression at the western desert of Iraq. Both surveys were achieved to delineate the top of sandy layer of Gaara formation and its depth as a marker surface, according to the density and resistivity contrast between this surface and the overlying formations. Measurements of resistivity method (using VES technique with Schlumberger array) have been carried out along (23) profile have (5 to 6 km.) length distributed along a grid of (500 x 500) resulting (273) station. In addition, gravity survey was carried out along (45) profile has the same length as in the resistivity survey but distributed along a grid of (250 x 100) resulting (2275) station. The results shows that there are a certain anomalous areas which supposed to be have high resistivity and density extended as a positive anomalies through the studied area forming lens like shape which supposed to be composed mainly of ferric or silicate sandstone.
