الملخصThis work was carried out in a selected area covered about 3 km , located about 10 km northeast of Zurbatiyah city, Badra District, Wassit Governorate to evaluate carbonate rocks quantitatively and qualitatively and estimate the primary industrial reserves.. Field works have been completed during one month; including, topographic works, choosing sections locations for study, description and sampling of 12 sections in carbonate rocks within Fatha Formation in a net of (150-200 ) m . - Sixteen samples were collected and subjected to chemical analysis ,their averages percentages are: Fe2O3= 0.11%, Al2O3= 0.19%, IR=1.5%, CaO=34.66%, MgO = 16.1%, SO3 =<0.07 %, L.O.I= 45.6%, SiO2 = 1.7%. - Seventeen samples were collected and subjected to physical and mechanical properties, their averages percentages are: - Bulk Density= 2.41 gm/cm3 - Compressive Strength= 31.6 Mn/m2 - Wt. absorption = 3.608% - Porosity= 12.01% - Soundness= 1.146% - Impact Value = 20.5% -The study found that the area contains rocks of dolomite and dolomitic limestone suitable for the purposes of General Construction, such as construction of dams, paving roads and buried depressions etc, due to its physical and chemical specifications. -Average thickness of the studied carbonate bed is 21.9 m, there is no overburden. -The positive area is about 2 822 320 m2. -The reserve of studied Dolomite and Dolomitic limestone rocks is (148 959 227) tons.
