| الملخص | Potential datawere reprocessed andreinterpreted by using Oasis montaj software to introduce structural markers of Iraq at scale of 1:250000. Shithatha and Karbala Quadrangles, sheets Nos. NI-38-13 and NI-38-14, respectively, is involved in this report as a study area. The study area is located within the Stable and Unstable Shelves of the Nubio-Arabian Platform, which is a part of the Arabian Plate. Most of Karbala sheet lies within Mesopotamia Foredeep except the western south part that lies within Western Desert, whereas the southern part lies within Mesopotamia Foredeep, howevermost of Shithatha sheet lies within the Inner Platform. Numerous magnetic and gravity anomalies were recognized in the study area. They were attributed to geological contacts, maxima, and faults. Basement inversion processing was applied in this report. In addition, number of processes and data enhancement has been applied through filtrations to discriminate in more certainty the type and to estimate the depth of the basement structures in the study area. Qualitative and quantitative interpretations were executed. All the revealed structural markers that estimated from qualitative interpretation were superimposed on the geological map so as to be of benefits for other applications, whereas quantitative interpretation shows the basement relief which is important in basins and tectonic studies. Four systems of lineaments and their tectonic causes have been estimated. They show a significant relation with the Lake and rivers direction. | |
