الملخص | Detailed Geological mapping on scale 1:25 000, was carried on an area of about (1560) square kilometers during the period 2014-2015. The project area is located to the east of Wasit and Missan Governorates in the eastern part of Iraq.
Mukdadiya Formation is the only pre-Quaternary sediments exposed in the study area.
Geomorphogically, the project area can be divide into two parts: The first part includes the high lands in the eastern part of the area, while the second part represents the flat and less undulated features within the Mesopotamian foredeep.
The area is charactarised by parallel drainage pattern, obviously structural features are the most affecting factors which led to such pattern. The area is dissected by almost parallel ephemeral and perennial streams, which flow towards south and southwest.
The study area from structural wise is located in the unstable shelf of the Arabian shield. The main deformation including folding represented by Badra oil field.
197 rock samples were collected from the exposed formations and analyzed for work requirements in addition to evaluate the economic sediments of the area.
The surface water resources in the study area are Al-Chbab streams and seasonal rainfall. | |
