الملخص | The remote sensing techniques are used in order to investigate possible Land Use - Land Cove (LULC) map of Al-Qaiyara Quadrangle, scale 1:250 000, which is located in the central northern part of Iraq. LULC map was produced depending on Landsat-8 Operational Land Imager (OLI) at acquisition date on 13th September 2015. The classification procedure that is developed by USGS was used as style and hierarchical levels. The techniques of supervised classifications method were apply depending on Spectral Angle Mapper (SAM) algorithm, which is implemented on Landsat-8 image OLI. This image was processed and classified into five main classes as raster data and converted to vector structure, using Environment for Visualizing Images (ENVI) V5.1 software in order to create a digital LULC map.
Five main classes of LULC were identified in the map area, these are Urban and Built-up Land, Vegetated Land, Agricultural Land Non-Vegetated, Water and Barren Land classes. The Barren Land Class covers 89% from the map area. While; involve other classes. The Barren Land Class is subdivided into five subclasses, which are Salt Flat, Sandy Area (Aeolian), Mixed Barren Land, Bare Soil and Gypcrete and/or Gypsiferous Soil. Two types of Agricultural Land Non-Vegetated Class were recognized in the map area, which are Cultivated Land and Harvested Land subclasses. The smallest area was occupied by Water class, which is represented by the Rivers and Canals subclasses. | |
