QALITIVE INTERPRETATION OF THE AIRBORNE RADIOMETRIC DATA OF WADI TABAL QUADRANGLE USING GIS TECHNIQUES
الملخص
The total count radiometric data of the map area was analyzed and separated to its residual and regional (background) maps. The regional maps showed an increase in radiometric background towards the southeast, while the residual radiometric anomaly map showed two residual radiometric anomalies distributed in the map area.
Anomaly (R1) located in the west of the map area and mostly coincides with Tayarat Formation (Upper and Lower Member), Hartha Formation, Rutba- Msaad Formation and Quaternary Sediments (Valley fill Sediment, Residual Soil and slope Sediment).
Anomaly(R2) located in the east of the map area and coincides mostlywithTayarat Formation (Upper and Lower Member) Umm Er Radhuma Formation and Quaternary Sediment (Valley fill Sediment, Residual soil Habbariya Gravels and Aeolian Sand Sheet).
A comparison between total count radiometric map of the map area and geological map of TabbalQuadrangle was carried out; it showed radioactivity range of each geologic formation and Quaternary sediments. It was concluded that, in general, the structural setting of the map area, which characterized by existence of numerous surface andsubsurface structuremaybe play important role in forming of the radiometric anomalies of the map area.
