EXPERIMENT FOR FRAC SAND PRODUTION FROM ARDUMA AND KILLO 180 DEPOSITS USED IN PETROLEUM INDUSTRIES

Abstract

This research was carried out on bench as well as pilot plant scales experiments were done in the central laboratories of the Iraq geological survey, deals with Arduma and kilo 180 sands which are located in the western desert of Iraq for proppant (frac sand). The sand characteristics of Arduma sand meet the specifications set by American petroleum Institute API (RP-56) 1995 for proppant also the economic feasibility study report was good and can be adjusted according to the customer requirement. Kilo 180 sand was failed because most grains are pitted for this reason crush resistance test was not accordance with the API standard requirements.
