PURIFICATION OF AL-KIFIL SAND QUARRY AL-NAJAF PLATEAU (UNDER INVESTIGATION ) FOR MANUFACTURING OF GLASS (LABORATORY

Abstract

This research was carried out on the laboratory scale as well as bench scales experiments weredone in the central laboratories of the Iraqi geological survey, dealswith Al-kifil sand quarry/ Al-Najaf Prateau for manufacturing of glass. Both laboratory and bench scales showedthat both results were approximately the same. The experimental results showed that the sand fraction (-600+106) micron by using dry screening and scrubbing is suitable for colored glass productbut not for flat glass manufacturing according to the magnetic separation results contained0.19 % Fe2O3.So it does not match the british standers .
