The total count radiometric data of the map area was analyzed and separated to its residual and regional (background) maps. The regional maps showed an increase in radiometric background towards the northeast, while the residual radiometric anomaly map showed four residual radiometric anomalies distributed in the map area.Anomaly (R1) located in the northwest of the map area and mostly related to the exposures ofQuaternary Sediments (Gypcrete, polygenetic Sediments, Alluvial Fan (Bajada) Sediments, Valley Fill Sediments and Sand Sheet).Anomaly(R2) located in the northeast of the map area and coincides with Sheet Run off Sediments, Injana Formation, Mukdadiya Formation and Bai Hassan Formation.
Anomaly (R3) located in the south of the map area, and mostly related to the exposures Flood Plain Sediments, Gypecrete, Valley Fill Sediments. Anomaly (R4) located in the west of the map area and mostly related to the exposures of Flood Plain Sediment, Valley fill Sediments, Slope Sediments and Al-Fatha Alluvial Fan Sediments.
A comparison between total count radiometric map of the map area and geological map of the Samrra Quadrangle was carried out; it showed radioactivity range of each geologic formation and Quaternary sediments.
Generally, the structural setting of the map area, which characterized by existence of numerous surface and surface and subsurface structureplay important role in forming of the radiometric anomalies of the map area(R2 and R4). | |
