الملخص | This report discusses the hydrogeological and hydrochemical Evaluation of the aquifers in H , Quadrangle sheet ( NI-37-12) scale1:250000.
The work is a compilation on what has been written on the aquifers encountered during drilling taking into consideration the previous hydro geological field work performed on area under study the results as chemical
Analysis were re- evaluated and doubtful results were discarded .
Hydro geological investigation have revealed the existence of four
main aquifers in the area viz in Rutba sandstone Muhaiwir. Ubaid and Mulussa
formations.
These aquifer do not seem to interconnect Hydraulically due to
existence of impermeable layers between them .
Ground water exists in two types of rocks . first sand , sand stone
Of Rutba formation , secondly in carbonate rocks of Muhaiwir , Ubaid and
Mullussa formation .
Water in carbonate rock is almost confined to fractures , joints and
vugs that characteristic carbonate deposits .
Ground water movement in the northern part of the area is towards
north-east whereas it is towards south –east to east in the other parts of the
area .
Hydrochemical evaluation of the ground water indicates that 50%
of the ground water of the area is of chloride type , 39% of it is of sulphate
type. Only 4% of this water belongs to a bicarbonate group.
Fresh water constitutes about 38% of the ground water .
The rest of the water is slightly brackish .
42% of the water may be used for irrigation purposes.
All ground water in this area may be used for stock uses. | |
