الملخص
The map area is located nearly in the Western part of Iraq near the Iraqi –Syrian border; it is a part of Western Desert.
The remote sensing techniques have used in order to produce possible Land Use Land Cover map (LULC) of H1 Quadrangle, scale 1:250 000 depending on Sentinels-2 satellite image with spatial resolution 10 m at acquisition date11/3/2016, the map area cover about 15463.92 km².LULC map has produced depending on Spectral Angle Mapping(SAM) method using Supervised Classifications technique.The prepared LULC raster image has converted to vector structure, using ArcGIS V.10 software in order to create a digital LULC map.
Three main classes of LULC have recognized in the map area, these are Vegetated Land class,Water class, and finally Barren Land class. The Barren Land Classhas divided into two subclasses which areSandy Area that represented by Sand Sheet subclass, and Bare Exposed Rocksubclass, which includeSedimentary Rocks (Carbonate Rocks and Conglomerate), Mixed Exposed Rocks, Desert Varnish, Desert Pavement, Mixed Barren land subclass and finally bare soil.Mixed Barren Land class is the largest class in the map area which cover5140.31 km² while Water class is the smallest area which covers26.53 Km².This image has classified into three main classes and the accuracy assessment ofclassification is89.33% and Kappa coefficient is 0.87 usingENVI 5.1software.
