الملخص | This report is a part of a Series of Geological Hazard Reports of Iraq. Concluded for the Geological Hazard Maps of Iraq 1:250000 on scale. As a project within the projects of the Geological Survey Department that have ascertained by the Director General and Directors of Geological Survey Department on 2003 and confirmed by the Board of Directors on 3/2/2005. Each report bears a number that starts with initial GHM, followed by a serial number that indicates the number of the map within the total number of maps that cover the Iraqi territory (24 Maps).
1.1. Aim
The main of the series is to collect the available data concerning geological hazards and to prepare a geological hazard map with a report for each quadrangle, 1:250000 on scale, which could be used to forecast the susceptible areas to geological hazards. Moreover, to classify the geological hazards and rank them , in the map area concerning their degree of hazard and their assessment. Beside, giving preventive actions for each type of acting geological hazard for mitigation purposes.
1.2. Location
This report deals with the Al-Kut quadrangle, 1:250000 on scale, which is shown in figure 1.1. and it is limited by the following coordinates :
Longitude 45º 00′ 46º 30′
Latitude 32º 00′ 33º 00′
Within the map area the following cities are located: - Al-Kut , Al-Azziziyah , Al-Numaniyah , Al-Hai , Shaikh Sa,ad , Afaq , Jassan , Al- Muwafaqiyah ,Wasit , Al-Husaiyniyah and Al- Zubaydiyah .Tigris and Al-Gharaf rivers , Hor Al-Dalmaj , Hor Al-Shbicha and part of Hor Al- Sa,diyah are within the map area . Part of the main flow channel (Al-M,ssab Al- Am) are also within the map area . | |
