الملخص | A comparison between total count radiometric map and geological map of the H1Quadrangle area was carried out, it showed radioactivity range of each geologic formation and Quaternary sediments, the differences in the range of radioactivity of the geologic formation outcropped in the map area, the unit and geologic formation, which consist of phosphatic rocks is characterized by high radioactivity level while limestone and dolomite rocks is characterized by low radioactivity level. The radiometric map of the map area was dividing into three radiometric zones according to the range of total count radioactivitylevels of different units and geologic formations.
The total count radiometric data was analyzed and separated to its residual and regional (background) maps. The regional maps showed an increase in radiometric background towards the northwest, while the residual radiometric anomaly map appear four residual radiometric anomalies distributed in the map area, some of it correspond with some geologic formations (formations contain phopsphatic rock) and some of it correspond to Quaternary sediments (valley and depression area). The sources and dominant radioactive element wasrestricted for each anomaly.
The structural and tectonic setting of the map area plays an important role in forming the radiometric anomalies in the map area. There is a coincidence between radiometricanomalies (R3, R4) with subsurface structure, and withthe surfaceof A-Amij and Al-awajfaidha, respectively.
